Are you looking for activities to support literacy skills over the winter break? Look no further! I have just released an activity pack that is ideal for motivating students to read over the winter holidays. These activities will help support your students' basic literacy skills during the days they are on winter vacation! Even better? These are NO PREP activities that will be simple for parents to use and fun for kids! Simply send them home as a winter break acitivity pack for your students this December.
Help parents understand how to support literacy skills over winter break
These parent letters explain the importance of consistent reading over the winder holidays! There are 3 different versions featuring options for holiday clipart. I shared information about these letters in my previous blog post. If you missed it, you can check it out here.

Encourage students to read consistently through fun reading challenges over winter break
The first option for reading challenges is based on TIME spent reading. There are two versions for time-based reading-- either 10 or 20 minutes per day.
The second option for reading challenges is based on fun WAYS to read! For extra incentive, use the marshmallow version if you plan to reward those who complete the challenge with a hot chocolate party when they return to school

Consistently review common sight words over winter break
Sight word hunt-and-color pages are fun ways to keep students reading (and rereading) common sight words. These are excellent take-home activities OR independent pages for the final days of school in December! There are three different versions, and an answer key is included for each.

You can access all of these materials in the NO PREP Winter Break Packet to Support Literacy Skills, now available in the Tally Tales Literacy TPT store!
